PFAS Exposure Claims Attorneys
Lawyers Investigating PFAS Firefighting Foams & Military Bases
Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, are synthetic chemicals found in countless common household products, firefighting supplies, and even in the water supply at military bases. Scientists don’t know how long these “forever chemicals” even last, but they’re already widespread. One New York Times article cites a source saying that PFAS could be found in the blood of nearly every American alive.
Exposure to PFAS is linked to the following diseases:
- Kidney cancer
- Testicular cancer
- Thyroid cancer
- Thyroid disease
- Liver cancer
- Ulcerative colitis
Handler, Henning & Rosenberg LLC is investigating claims related to PFAS involving firefighters, military personnel, and residents of military bases. Our firm has been fighting for plaintiffs since 1922, and our experience in these claims makes us one of the premier product liability firms. If you or a loved one developed cancer or ulcerative colitis and worked in firefighting or lived on a military base, speak with us.

Why Are Firefighters & Military Personnel at Greater Risk for PFAS Exposure?
PFAS have properties that make them ideal for firefighting: they’re oil- and water-resistant, insulate heat efficiently, and, as a foam, can extinguish fires by cutting off oxygen. This is also why PFAS are widely used on military bases; they’re highly effective at putting out jet fuel fires, for instance.
However, that doesn’t change the fact that exposure to PFAS puts firefighters and service members at heightened life-threatening risk without their knowledge.
There’s additional risk for family members who live on base. Because PFAS do not break down, residue containing these synthetic compounds eventually enters the water supply. On a military base where PFAS are used so often and in high concentrations, this has contaminated the water supply even worse than among the general population. So even if you had no exposure to PFAS from firefighting foam, just living or working on base would expose you to PFAS.
Companies Have a Responsibility to Plaintiffs
Companies like 3M and DuPont—some of the biggest chemical manufacturers in the world—are facing consequences for their use of PFAS in so many products without disclosing their properties. PFAS are more harmful and potentially more common than asbestos, and these companies have built their fortunes on putting them in virtually everything without considering the consequences.
While alternatives to PFAS-containing firefighting foams now exist, firefighters must continue exposing themselves to a dangerous and deadly chemical to do their jobs. It’s only fitting that the companies who sell that foam pay for the medical costs, lost wages, and lost time that their products have inflicted on first responders and service members.
The Pennsylvania PFAS attorneys at HHR are currently investigating PFAS claims with the intent to get plaintiffs everything they need to rebuild their lives. If you’ve developed any of the conditions listed above after living on a military base or working as a firefighter, speak with us as soon as possible. Let’s hold these companies responsible and fight for what you need.
